Anthony V. D'Urso Psy.D.

Dr. Anthony V. D’Urso received his doctorate in psychology from The Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University. Dr. D’Urso was a  graduate professor of Child Advocacy and Policy at Montclair State University and previously the supervising psychologist at The Audrey Hepburn Children’s House, the Northern Regional Diagnostic Center for Child Abuse and Neglect located at Hackensack University Medical Center.


For more than twenty years, Dr. D’Urso has directed mental health programs for children who were maltreated in the three major hospital systems in New Jersey. He was also credited with supporting the development of Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) functioning in the state of New Jersey, having initiated such teams in 1986. Dr. D’Urso is the former chairman of the New Jersey Child Fatality/Near Fatality Review Board, entrusted with reviewing all child fatalities in New Jersey and making recommendations with regard to prevention. Dr. D’Urso has been a longtime member of the New Jersey Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect and co-founded the New Jersey Child Sexual Abuse Training Institute, a funded initiative of the Task Force, for training and development of multi-disciplinary practices in the investigation and management of criminal and civil child abuse cases.


Dr. D’Urso’s professional expertise includes forensic psychology and the evaluation of child abuse within familial settings, as well as the assessment and risk propensity for sexual offenders.

After 22 years serving the Finding Words NJ community, in 2023, Dr. D'Urso has retired and has passed the reins to Pete Boser and the NJCA.
